Book Launch Celebration for Melissa Eleftherion's Suture

6:00 Author reading, followed by Open Mic

MEDIUM Art Center will host a book launch celebration for Melissa Eleftherion on Friday, April 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event celebrates the release of Suture (Cooper Dillon, 2026), Eleftherion’s newest poetry collection.

Suture is a collection of erasure poems drawn from works by V.C. Andrews, including Flowers in the Attic. The book explores themes of trauma, memory, and shame, working to reclaim narrative through fragmentation and reconstruction.

The April 25 event will include a reading by the author, followed by an open mic for community members who want to share their own work. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Eleftherion and purchase the book. The event is free and open to the public.

Eleftherion is a writer, librarian, and visual artist. Born and raised in Brooklyn, they are the author of four full-length poetry collections, including Field Guide to Autobiography (2018) and Gutter Rainbows (2024), as well as numerous chapbooks. A six-time Pushcart Prize nominee, she has had work appear in publications such as DIAGRAM, Sixth Finch, and Verse Daily.

She served as Poet Laureate of Ukiah from 2021 to 2024 and now manages the Ukiah Branch Library. She also curates the LOBA Reading Series.

MEDIUM Art Center is a nonprofit arts space dedicated to supporting artists and building community through exhibitions, workshops, and events.
