“Liminal Terrain” Photography Exhibition by Bobby Cochran Opens Feb. 6 at MEDIUM Art Center
MEDIUM Art Center presents Liminal Terrain, a solo photography exhibition by Mendocino County photographer and filmmaker Bobby Cochran. The exhibition brings together landscapes, portraits, and observational works that focus on moments of transition and quiet tension.
Liminal Terrain explores the space between presence and absence, stillness and change. Cochran’s images move through unsettled environments and introspective human moments, using light, texture, and atmosphere to draw attention to what exists just beyond the obvious. The work invites viewers to slow down and spend time in the in-between.
An opening reception will be held Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, during Ukiah’s First Friday Art Walk. The public is invited to attend and meet the artist.
Cochran is a Mendocino County–based photographer and filmmaker whose work is rooted in documentary storytelling, underground music culture, and long-form artistic access. Before focusing on photography, he built a creative career in music as a touring drummer, recording engineer, and producer. Since beginning his professional photography practice in 2016, Cochran has documented musicians, landscapes, subcultures, and intimate portraits across a wide range of demographics.
His work has appeared in album art, music press, film projects, advertising campaigns, and artist-driven archives. As a filmmaker, he has directed more than 20 music videos, several short documentaries, and one feature-length documentary.
The opening reception will have music by SPIDERMONKEY BEATS, featuring DJs ALTERIUM and MARUZ. Together, they produce a hybrid sound that blends diverse cultural rhythms with electronic textures. A fusion of traditional Latin rhythms with cutting edge production. SPIDERMONKEY BEATS delivers a dynamic performance that draws the audience and inspires them to dance.
Light food and drinks will be provided at the opening reception.
