“Potluck” January Group Art Exhibition Opening & First Friday Art Walk

Second Annual “Potluck” Exhibition Brings Artists and Community Together at MEDIUM Art Center

MEDIUM Art Center invites the public to its second annual “Potluck” group art exhibition, a January show built around shared space, shared effort, and shared creativity.

“Potluck” is a community-driven exhibition that brings together artists who regularly show up for the gallery and for each other. Each participating artist contributes one piece of artwork, creating a varied and sometimes surprising mix of styles, mediums, and voices. The result is a show that feels less curated and more lived-in, like any good potluck table.

The exhibition opens during Ukiah’s First Friday Art Walk on Friday, Jan. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. The opening night doubles as a social gathering, with artists and visitors encouraged to bring a dish or refreshment to share. Food, art, and conversation are all part of the experience.

In keeping with the potluck theme, the evening will also include informal music and a participatory community art element. Visitors will be invited to contribute small items to a collaborative assemblage piece that will remain on display throughout the run of the show.

The exhibition will be on view through Tuesday, February 3rd, at MEDIUM Art Center, located at 110 S. School St. in Ukiah. Gallery hours are 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

“Potluck” reflects MEDIUM Art Center’s ongoing focus on access, inclusion, and connection. The show places equal value on process and presence, not just finished work. It is less about spotlighting individual artists and more about celebrating the act of showing up together.

Opening Reception: First Friday Art Walk: Friday, January 3rd, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Beverages and light refreshments available (by potluck!). Wine provided by Saracina Vineyards.

Music: The potluck approach will be taken to the evening’s music, with various musicians sharing their talents.

Community Art Project: Visitors will be invited to contribute small items to a collaborative assemblage piece that will remain on display throughout the run of the show.

Come support the arts in our community!
