First Friday Art Walk & "Mixtape" Art Show Opening

“Mixtape” Juried Art Show Opens at Medium Art Center

MEDIUM Art Center is proud to present Mixtape, a juried group exhibition showcasing visual artwork inspired by a favorite song title or lyric, any genre, any era, any mood.. This show will open during the September First Friday Art Walk in downtown Ukiah.

From punk and pop to soul and synthwave, Mixtape will celebrate the emotional power of music and its deep ties to visual memory, storytelling, and identity. Artwork can be literal, abstract, nostalgic, humorous, or raw, just like your old cassette collection.

An opening reception will be held on First Friday, September 5th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during Ukiah’s First Friday Art Walk. Invite your friends and family to a fun community event that supports the arts.

The opening reception will have music by DJ FR:XN. Newcomer Francisco Enriquez, known as FR:XN, blends introspective and spacious melodies to create a musical journey. His sets are simple yet immersive, layering ambiance sounds with the pulse of each track. FR:XN prefers smooth, unhurried transitions, inviting listeners to dwell into the music and let each beat breathe. His performances arc less about spectacle and more about connection, building an ever-changing sonic landscape.

Light food and drinks will be provided.

There will be a community interactive mixtape-themed project that begins at the opening and continues throughout the show's duration. We supply blank cassette covers and art supplies to create your own epic mixtape cover art.

  • Opening reception: Friday, September 5th, 2025, 5:00-8:00 PM PDT.

  • The show runs through Saturday, September 27th, 2025.

  • Medium Art Center - 518 East Perkins Street, Ukiah, in the Pear Tree Center
